Turnkey Construction of BTS sites 

  • Acquisition of BTS sites as per the nominal which involves physical acquisitions and, pursuance approvals from local Authorities.
  • Technical Site Survey is done to see the site location, road access, power availability, nearby markets and camping areas.
  • In the Technical Site Survey the Civil Engineer along with the site acquisition staff indicates the site area.
  • After consulting the co ordinates from RF and MW departments the site indicated is finalised.
  • From the detailed Engineering Drawing, site civil work layout is indicated from the final drawing and marked on the ground. Level are defined. Dumping area is also marked for excavation.
  • Geotechnical or Soil Investigation Report is checked if applicable.
  • If it is a roof top site. Structural Feasibility Report is checked.
  • Site health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements are checked.
  • All the design and drawing are finally reviewed before site kick off.

Civil Work

  • The first step is to excavate the tower foundation, excavator is required to be used for speed excavations, manual excavations can be done for low cost projects or for the hill top sites.
  • Materials required for the site: Gravel aggregate, crush, cement, sand, water, grade 60 steel, binding wires, plaster of paris.
  • Equipment required for the site: Shuttering, concrete mixer machine, chutes, wheel Barrows, concrete vibrators (Poker), trowel, compactors (Mini Rollers), steel cutting & bending machine, steel measuring tape, levelling instrument.
  • Manpower Need at site: Civil engineer, site supervisor, surveyor, mixer operator, steel fixers, mason, vibrator operator and labour.
  • Grounding ring is to be laid at specified depth just after excavation.
  • The excavated area is then proof-rolled to make the ground compacted.
  • Lean concrete (1:4:8) is then poured according to the specified mix ratio with the help of mixer machine
  • After blinding concrete, the levels are re-confirmed to check the thickness of laid concrete layer.
  • The steel for pad/s and columns is then cut and bent according to bar bending schedule.
  • In the meanwhile the size of foundation is marked over the lean layer.
  • The steel for foundation is then fastened with the help of binding wires and placed over spacers to give specified cover in both horizontal and vertical directions.
  • The main reinforcement for columns is also fastened which is extending from top right into the foundation re-bars.
  • The materials, as per mix ratio, are mixed in the mixing drum with specified water content for a certain period of time (at least for 75 seconds).
  • The mix is then shifted to the wheel barrows and then to the main concreting area.
  • Concrete is spread all over the concreting area in the same fashion with the use of poker vibrator periodically to compact the laid concrete.
  • During placing the workability is checked with the help of slump cone and the cubes are filled randomly from any load.
  • The laid concrete is then cured for specified number of days. Meanwhile the remaining steel for columns is fastened and after few days when concrete is sufficiently set, the formwork of columns is fixed.
  • The formwork should be strong enough to bear concrete weight during concreting and it must be rigidly fixed that it does not get displaced to give the columns an objectionable final shape.
  • The materials, as per mix ratio, are mixed in the mixing drum with specified water content for a certain period of time (at least for 75 seconds).
  • The mix is then shifted to the wheel barrows and then to the main concreting area. It is ensured that vibrator is operated periodically to have a dense laid concrete.
  • Once the proper curing of the foundation pad and columns has been achieved, backfilling of excavated area has to be started.
  • During backfilling proper soil compaction is required to be achieved. Soil compaction is method to mechanically increase the density of soil.
  • The backfilling layer should not exceed 200mm and to be compacted to required level and density.
  • Top slab concreting is done
  • Boundary wall is constructed as per the drawing.

Tower erection

  • The nest step is tower erection.
  • After tower erection, all the necessary tower accessories like cable ladder, lightening arrestor, fall arrest system, tower lights and mounts (both antenna & dish mounts) are installed as per technical documents.

Generator Installation

  • Generator, fuel tank and ATS are installed as per drawing. All cable connections are done and generator is commissioned.
  • The fuel tank and genset are also connected to the main grounding system

Tower Painting 

  • Painting of towers to International Civil Aviation Organization Standards (ICAO Standard).

Aviation Tower Lighting 

  • Supply and installation of aviation tower lights as per International Civil Aviation Organization Standards (ICAO Standards)
